Complete three challenges? Complete none? Doesn’t seem to matter much. Win or lose, we always seem to get the same amount of progress. We don’t blame folks for feeling this way, there really does seem to be minimal gains from the other sources. Instead, the most commonly held belief is that time played is the only thing that levels up your pass. Many in the community continue to doubt that XP and challenges contribute towards progress. You may feel like you get through the pass faster in Warzone, but that’s likely due to how long the matches are in comparison. It makes sense that progression methods would be the same across all three Call of Duty titles. To advance through these tiers, you simply play the game (either Warzone, or the full Modern Warfare experience), earn XP, and complete challenges, which give even more XP.Īll three actions (playing the game, earning XP, and completing challenges) contribute to your overall Battle Pass XP, and get you closer to the content you’re chasing. You also earn baseline progress simply by playing, whether you win or lose. While we can’t find any record of Treyarch or Activision explicitly stating how battle pass progression works in Black Ops Cold War, with Modern Warfare, they’ve publicly stated that earning XP and completing challenges both help you level up faster.

With experience and battle pass progression shared between Black Ops Cold War, Warzone, and Modern Warfare there’s a lot of room for confusion. You’d be excused for being confused about progression in the latest Call of Duty titles.
